On March 9th at BTC 5 in Windsor, Ontario, Scott Hudson, who trains out of Para Bellum MMA has his eyes set on two things; 1. A win over Adam Hazelton, 2. A no. 1 contender spot, eyeing the winner of the main-event title fight between Kyle Prepolec and Curtis DeMarce.

A Canadian based promotion, BTC (Burlington Training Center) Fight Promotion will be putting their fifth event on, in what feels like an ever-growing card filled with local and international talent.

3-1 in BTC, Hudson will be welcoming Hazelton to the close-to-home promotion, looking to make a huge statement, hopeful he’ll be next in line for a super-lightweight title shot.

Adam LeBarr of MMA Fight Radio spoke with Hudson ahead of his fight early next month, ready to finally fight Hazelton in what’s been rescheduled multiple times.

“Adam and I have been slated to fight twice now but it fizzled out for one reason or another. So I am pretty familiar with him. There is not a lot of footage on Adam or information based on reputation, so I’m not really Interested in building a game plan around his skill set. I am the more experienced and active fighter so the onus would be on Adam to make adjustments to me.”

At BTC 5, Scott Hudson will have competed on every single fight card the promotion has put on to date, and with that experience, he hopes with a win on March 9th, he’ll be the next 165lbs title challenger.

“Kyle Prepolec is fighting Curtis DeMarce for the belt on the same card so I fully expect to be next in line for a title shot with a win over Adam on March 9(th). Depending on what is going on with the winner of that fight, it would be dope to get it done in 2019.”

With big goals for 2019, Hudson has been training with some top level mixed martial artists out of Ontario, Canada, where he trains at Para Bellum MMA and Burling Training Center, which aren’t too distant from each other. Ahead of schedule, Scott states his major concern is staying healthy leading into his up-and-coming fight.

“(My) entire camp has been at Para Bellum MA and Burlington Training Center. I’ve had the opportunity to get rounds in with a lot of other top pros from Ontario. I’m actually quite ahead of schedule at this point so my goal is to just fine tune and stay healthy in the weeks leading up to fight night.”

Both Scott Hudson and Adam Hazelton are Canadians, going head to head in Windsor, which is just over the USA/Canada border from Detroit, Michigan. Being Canadian, MMA Fight Radio asked Hudson if he felt any added pressure wanting to put on a show in front of a close-to-come crowed, he says:

“Not at all. I have no qualms about taking my time on an opponent like Adam. In fact, the longer the fight goes, the deeper it plays into my wheelhouse. He hasn’t exactly been fighting top flight competition. He’s never fought someone of my caliber.”

Starting out his professional MMA career with a loss, some may find it difficult to find motivation being 0-1 and wanting to continue to fight. For Hudson, though his beginnings were tough, finding motivation had never been a problem for the now 8-4 mixed martial artists.

“I had a really hard time making my pro debut after an undefeated amateur career. I traveled to Trinidad and my pro debut against a guy who was 7-0. In hindsight I probably bit off more than I could chew. The next month I picked up a knockout win and got back on track. I’ve always been pretty ambitious about my career, so finding motivation is rarely a struggle. I have fought in 6 countries on 3 continents, I’ve always tried to challenge myself and make shit happen in life and in the fight game.”

Simply put, Hudson explains what we can expect of him come BTC 5.

“On March 9(th) you can expect to see one fighter that is calm, patient, well rounded, fast and strong. The other fighter is Adam Hazelton.”
