Zurdo Ramirez vs. Yuniel Dorticós Cruiserweight Title Fight Co-Headlines Global Event on DAZN PPV
ANAHEIM, CA – Boxing’s biggest disruptor, Jake “El Gallo de Dorado” Paul (11-1, 7 KOs), continues his meteoric rise in the sport, taking on former world champion Julio César Chávez Jr. (54-6-1, 34 KOs) in a highly anticipated cruiserweight clash on Saturday, June 28, live on DAZN pay-per-view from the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.
The 10-round, 200-pound bout marks another major milestone for Paul, whose recent knockout win over Mike Tyson shattered global streaming records on Netflix. Now, the crossover star returns to traditional boxing on a mission to solidify himself as a legitimate title contender—and he’s doing it against a name synonymous with boxing legacy in Mexico.
“Chávez Jr. is Mexican, but I, El Gallo De Dorado, have the will and heart of the great Mexican fighters,” Paul said. “On June 28, I will knock out Julio and make Chávez Sr. proud in ways Jr. never has.”
Chávez Jr., the former WBC middleweight champion and son of boxing legend Julio César Chávez Sr., is confident he still has what it takes. “Now that everything is in the right place in my life—mentally and physically—I feel rejuvenated and 10 years younger,” Chávez Jr. said. “The Problem Child is about to have a big problem.”
A High-Stakes Co-Main: Zurdo Ramirez vs. Yuniel Dorticós
Golden Boy’s Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez (47-1, 30 KOs), the unified WBO and WBA cruiserweight champion, returns to defend his titles against Cuba’s power-punching Yuniel “The KO Doctor” Dorticós (27-2, 25 KOs). Ramirez, coming off a history-making title win in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, is eager to continue building toward undisputed status.
“I’ve been training non-stop and feel sharper than ever,” said Ramirez. “This fight marks my WBA mandatory, and I know I need to get past this opponent to stay on track in my journey toward greatness.”
Dorticós, a former IBF and WBA champion with an astonishing 93% KO rate, sees this as a redemption moment: “My goal is to become a three-time world champion, and now I have the chance to accomplish that.”
A Global Event
The event is being presented by Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) in association with Golden Boy Promotions and will stream live globally on DAZN pay-per-view. CELSIUS Live Fit Essential Energy serves as the presenting sponsor, alongside support from Fansly and Event Ticket Center.
“Once again, Golden Boy is proving we’re willing to work with anyone to deliver the biggest and most exciting events in boxing,” said Oscar De La Hoya, Chairman and CEO of Golden Boy. “This is going to be an unforgettable night celebrating the best of Mexican boxing.”
With Paul vs. Chávez Jr. and Zurdo vs. Dorticós anchoring the card, fans can expect fireworks on June 28.
