Paris Stanford is fighting David Nuzzo in the World Fighting Federation main event WFF 43 @ Celebrity Theatre on Sat Feb 22 Phoenix Arizona
MMA Fight Coverage Carlos Ortiz stopped by the gym Fight Ready to get some insight from Paris.
“I have a featherweight title fight against David Nuzzo for the World Fighting Federation. I am very excited about it. It is going to be at Celebrity Theatre, main event of the evening and I just feel really good, great opportunity, allot of good Implication wining this belt.
I fought for LFA before I defiantly wouldn’t mind fighting for them again. We had some good opportunities come up after that fight as well. I had an opportunity to do the Contender Series but it was like within a couple weeks after the fight, they needed me to go down to 35, which I’ve never done, so it just wasn’t a good look. Whatever comes next I am ready for it.
I have been training Jiu Jitsu since late 2010 under Carlos Ferias he is my professor, he is in Mesa he is under Roberto Traven. He is an amazing person in Black Belt and it is kind of where I got my start. One of the first people that really had me believing in myself, I had something special. So Jiu Jitsu has been an amazing thing an amazing journey for myself. I can’t say enough good things about the sport or more about Carlos Ferias.
At this point I have a few physical tickets I ‘ll be selling until Tuesday. So if they came down to Fight Ready you could defiantly get tickets from myself by that date and if not online www.buyfighttickets.com and the code would be MMA2 for me to get credit. So that’s another way to buy. I have the general admission at 27.00 and then the others: lower tier down is at 44.00. But I am sure when you go online there are probably three or four other categories of tickets that you could buy, the least of them being general admission at 27.00.
My strategy is not really changing. I am going to go out there and do what I do best. I can be very awkward and hard to deal with. I have been working a lot on my striking but you know I am a brazillian Jiu Jitsu black belt so ideally we get this fight to the ground. We sub him out. And, I have been working on my striking, so don’t be surprised ii I lay some hands on him. Kind of like I did in my LFA fight.
My opponent, I believe he has a good record. He’s got a lot of experience. I believe he is one of these guys that likes to strike. I doubt they really want this fight on the ground. I would have to imagine, if I were his coach, I would try to keep it standing, would be his best bet. But you know, I have here training partners that have allot better records. I have training partners who are just better strikers, better everything you know? So, I am well prepared, beyond ready for this.
Here at Fight Ready we have been building this up for a while. It feels good. I have my main mma coach Santino DeFranco. We have Eddie Cha striking coach, boxing coach Allen has just been working a lot with me. Training partners, the highest level: we have Henry Cejudo and I have got guys like Henry Corrales, Bobby Moffett. We are just star studded around this place. A lot of high-level guys that I am going with. It just gives you a lot of confidence, so I feel really good, Drakkar Klose, you know the list just keeps on going.
I am the head professor here. I have been building up Paris Stanford Jiu Jitsu at Fight Ready. It’s just been a great thing to help people develop themselves and just bring something out if them. Or I should say reveal part of themselves they might not know exists. Jiu Jitsu is an amazing thing for me. It has helped me to change my mindset, change my life and it’s really cool to be able to give back and continue the tradition that was given to me through Carlos Farias.
Jiu Jitsu is one of those things where I tell people ‘Just get started’ the first step is just showing up. Fight Ready off of the 101 and Shea it’s 866 E Shea Blvd. You can come check us out. It’s easy enough just to come in sign the waiver, get a couple of free trials and see if it’s a place that fits for you. We never want to have anybody come in who doesn’t want to be here and get locked into anything. So like I said, the hardest step is just that first one. I would urge people to take that. You come in and we will put you in a one on one class. You don’t have to worry about getting rolled up and tapped out a bunch or whatever. It will just be you learning the technique, positions, the transitions. Like I said just getting you comfortable in a heavy gi that you are not used to wearing either. It would be a good place to start in the one on one classes.”
